Where We Are [LORE] by Patty Midkiff
Origins of Magic and Life

The origins of life. Billions of years ago, a magical world spawns as one of the first to bear life. Aptly named Other Realm by the creatures who would later inhabit it, this planet would give birth to many small single-celled microbes. it will take a very long time for this world to become stable, billions of years again. Much like any violent world's beginnings, it stayed this way until progress and magic willed great plants to form wildly in the lands. These great plants grow and produce more of themselves. They become the oldest living forest, the Other World Wylds. With the forest springing up there came about the creatures that come after. The birth of faeries, beings nearly made entirely of magic, came abruptly. This magic was a new thing to behold to any living things. The naive faeries abused its power greatly the first few hundred years.

The faeries came to find out this magic could be used to create. With ease they made bigger trees, varied flowers and foods, and the various animals of the Wylds. Their first attempts to unify and create something as similar as them would prove to cost them their uniqueness. The Sidhe were made to be larger and more perfect beings, capable of the same cognitive thought and magical ability. The Sidhe were taken care of before their societies eventually clashed. Angered by the way the faeries obnoxiously created things and let them be without order. Without being controlled. For years the two beings fought over The Other Realm with the Sidhe eventually becoming dominant over the events to occur.

As the universe continued to grow these Sidhe eventually went on to create more magical beings and beasts. This great planet of first life held it all within the vast Wylds. Faeries took a back seat to the ride, but secretly devised a way to spread their creations through other means. By use of teleportation a new planet was tossed lifeforms from the Other Realm. Hoping to guide it much like the life they had experienced for eons before this new planet, Earth, was becoming cultivated. What the faeries took away this time from the planet was the thing they feared last time: Magic. It wouldn't take long for Sidhe to catch onto this idea and instead cut them off a little too late. Leaving the planet and the organisms planted onto it to naturally evolve much like they did in their early stages.

Earth's History

Much of Earth's history is just like what we see in the history and science books. Earth handles the given organisms with some dangerous malice as life struggles at first on the planet. Reaching a luscious burst of growth around the beginning of multi-cellular organisms. Earth's many beasts were not given the same luxury and design as their magical cousins. Many of these beasts will come and go with extinctions, and then we hit the point in where conscious life pops up. Humans.

Humans have a vast history that is far too thick to be put in here. Not even close to being as long lived as their cousin planet, these beings seems to have no gift in magic and relied heavily on the ability to first craft tools. The sidhe... made a trip to this planet again to see this, to be astonished by the growing complexity of the humans. Without needing intervention, the naive sapiens made gods out of the forces and elements. It would be reinforced by these Sidhe beings who soon found ways to meddle with the affairs of humans.

During these thousands of years small opportunities for magical creatures of the Other Realm were made possible by the short-coming of Sidhe's hold with the Other Realm. These creatures becomes embedded within different cultures. Around this time too select humans became aware of this hidden magic they could manipulate within certain boundaries. As more came to this realization, a large group formed during the roman empire called The Court. Composed of these human wizards, they developed inspired and controlled protocols under the guidance of other magical creatures. It would come with the fall of the empire that these individuals hide themselves in history.

Thousands of years past, the myths of old have all but vanished in this age. Humans have almost accepted the natural acts that caused their being and lived their lives accordingly. With technology not possible in Other Realm due to interference caused by the magic humans have conquered their planet to a near entirety. Vanilla humans become skeptical of any and all magic happenings. Fearing this greater power to come they all vanished from public eyes long before. The Great Hiding as it's called, many magical beings having to live in secret and hide among humans. All while The Court attempt to keep order between their people and those not.

Now with nuclear weapons, firearms, tanks. What isn't there to be afraid of? The modern age certainly is no safer for that of magic than it was 400 years ago.
